I don't actually tune DADGAD, instead I emulate it on a standard-tuned guitar with a partial capo. Put a regular capo on the first fret and a 345-string partial capo on the third. The verses and solo are picked very selectively, not strummed. These chord formations represent the basis for what is picked. In the chorus and bridge, however, the chords are basically stummed, fingered as shown below. I haven't tabbed the verse picking note for note, so you'll just have to listen to the CD or improvise, but these fingerings should be a good start. dadgad+3 partial+1 -------------------------- 00400X D(sus)4 00400X 520000 G(add9) 320000 X02200 A4 X02200 000200 D(no3) 000200 400200 (D)/F# 200200 2240XX Em(add)9 Z240XX (Z represents the "zeroth" fret, X02240 A(sus4) X02220 the same fret as the partial capo) 222000 Em7(sus4) Z22000 X1204X A#(07) X1202X X24400 Bm(7) X24400 VERSE/SOLO: | D4| |G . |A4 . |D /F#|G D4| |Em9. |A4 . |D . |D . | (x2) CHORUS: |D . |A . |G . |A4 . | |D . |A . |Em7. |A4 . |A4 . | |Em9. |A4 . |D . |D . | BRIDGE: |G . |A . |D /F#|G . | |Em7. |A4 A#|Bm A4|G . | |Em7. |A4 . |D . |D . | |Em7. |A4 . |D . | Transcribed 10/14/1999 by t-rev@ccws.net More tab available at http://ccws.net/t-rev ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ VERSE 1: I don't know why I always run Is it fear of the fall or fear of the touch And I don't know where the angels sleep And I don't know how to really love I've never stood still long enough And I don't know where the angels sleep CHORUS: But I am alive and standing strong I'm no farther forward just farther along I hold on to my pride and dig in deep It's pulling me down and I am no closer to release And I don't know where the angels sleep SOLO VERSE 2: I don't know how to see you now The friend from before is different somehow And I don't know where the angels sleep And I don't know when I'll love again But I don't trust myself to just let you in And I don't know where the angels sleep REPEAT CHORUS BRIDGE: It's taken ten thousand days To get stuck in my ways And it offers no grace I cannot stand this place With love in my face I walk away slowly I don't know where the angels sleep No I don't know where the angels sleep
